| Board : Magnification in Dentistry Program : Information Magnification in Dentistry At DSI Dentists often do not see adequate details of work: Residual caries at the DEJ. Residual decalcification at the margins. Fractures and cracks in enamel – undermined enamel. Line angle cracks where pins WOULD be placed. Second MB canal for maxillary molars. Inadequate continuity of preparation margins. Cord packing and margin revelation/reading impressions. Precision of retentive form. Every Year the Patient gets Farther Away! Visual acuity decreases with age – the eyes loose resolution. Slow degradative processes may not be noticed and may not really be compensated without optical assistance. Hands-on, Eyes-on Course Exercises using ivorine and natural teeth will demonstrate the difference between SEEING and guessing. A quantitative evaluation will be made for each attendee of the amount of detail seen with and without loupes. The Course includes explanations and demonstrations of: Simple loupes. Compound Gallilean loupes. Prism loupes. Optical and mechanical designs. Through-lens versus flip-up. Various participating suppliers that give good service and provide highest quality equipment are represented. |
