Hands-on Orthodontics Courses At DSI
Orthodontics is the specialty where
general practitioners feel least comfortable. More and more
general dentists feel the need to be able to properly diagnose and treat
/ refer ortho cases.
This Orthodontics course will provide clinicians the skills to recognize
normal from abnormal occlusion in primary, mixed and adult dentitions.
Participants will learn the different types of: orthodontics phase
treatments, tooth movements, anchorages, elastics and appliances like
Rapid Palatal expansors, lower lingual arches, 4x2 / 6x2 and 3x3
Invisalign; as well as the most common used orthodontic terms,
classifications and records. Participants will be able to
differentiate between limited ortho cases, such as premature loss of
primary teeth, tongue thrust / thumb sucking habits, post-orthodontic
relapse, mild crowding / spacing, anterior / posterior cross bite, from
comprehensive orthodontic cases that need to be referred to a
specialist.
Clinical cases will be presented showing MARA, Herbst, Headgears, UBL
and Invisalign treatments. By hands-on exercises the participant will
learn options for treatment of limited ortho cases. Lab exercises
include 4x2 / 6x2, tongue crib, space maintainers, LLA, Active Hawley
retainer and 3x3 Invisalign treatments.
